Monette wurde in [[Oak Ridge]], [[Tennessee]] geboren. Nach ihrer Schulzeit studierte sie und erreichte einen PhD in [[Anglistik]]. Ihre Dissertation schrieb sie über Geister in der englischen Renaissance Tragödie. Monette unterrichtet gegenwärtig einen Literaturkurs und lebt in [[Wisconsin]].<br />

Ihr erster [[Fantasy]]-Roman ''Mélusine'' wurde im August 2005 vom Verlag [[Ace Books]] veröffentlicht und erhielt eine Kritik in dem Magazin [[Publishers Weekly]].
